Week 2: Starting school and getting used to life in hall

Most exciting thing that happened this week?

MY HEATER DIED.

It literally just died on me. The temperature outside is currently -6 degrees celsius. 0.0

Okay. Thank god for warm quilts. I am not that terrified for myself. However, I hope that my plants will survive this ordeal. :/

Update: The heater just decided to scare me. It worked an hour later. Hahaha.

The week started out really well. I decided to make pasta for the rest of the week, so I bought my ingredients from the supermarket and waited for the kitchen to be empty before I went out to cook. See the detergent over there? It was not there initially and the previous bottle was finishing. So I thought I would contribute to the kitchen by buying a new bottle. However, I realised that this brand was expensive ~23 sek! So I went to buy some cheapo brand from Willy's (the cheaper supermarket) for 8 sek (~S$1+) and happily bought it back to the corridor. Then, I saw this pretty new bottle of branded dish detergent. :( So from then on, the cheapo dish detergent stayed in my room. Hahaha. >.< I supposed I redeemed myself, because I bought not-so-cheapo looking sponges (10 for 10 sek [~S$2]) and put one out in the sink so I can use it.

This remind me of something.

Culture shock no.1: They do not use sponges to clean their dishes! Instead, they use the scrubby things in the background of that picture over there. Hahaha. I do not understand how will that clean the dishes well. Apparently it does the job moderately well because I checked the dishes.

One tomato, one onion, half a garlic yada yada. Happily chopping along.....

The kitchen has no wooden spoons! So weird! So I used the fork and my chopsticks instead.

I cooked the pasta, and ate a huge breakfast. Nom nom. I believe that was my first proper meal in Linkoping. Very very filling. :)

The supermarket had ICE CREAM promotion this week! 10 sek for one box. That is like S$2 ice cream <3 <3 <3 OMG. It is damn good as well! Super creamy and delicious! So, I went on to buy one more box. Hehe.

I think this was another meal. I love this! Egg, with runny yolk and pasta. AHHH.

This is the view from my school. I realised that there are always planes in the sky. I later realised that there is a flying school nearby. Look at the beautiful sky. The colours are so vibrant even on my phone. Imagine if someone had a good camera. The colours would be even nicer.

Breakfast mid week. I ate granola for breakfast, and it was really really filling. However, I had lessons in the late afternoon, so I decided to eat some veggies and egg for lunch and packed bread for school. I think it was bread with bacon. Nom nom. The bacon here was so salty, I ate it with bread just like that.

The road to school is longggg.

Picture of the hostels.

During our two hour break, I wanted to go the the farm next to the school. I went there with Clara and Rebecca. It was funnnn. This is the first time I seen such as idyllic farm with red barns and no touristy feel.
There is a little barn with rabbits and guinea pigs and chickens. I never knew that chickens were so smelly. I could not bear to go in to take pictures. They are also very noisy. Haha. Chickens.

Look! This goat is clearly a poser! Smile! :D With teeth some more.

Peek a boo! While we were in the goat barn, we saw a family come in. The little girl tried to put on something on the goat to walk it. Hahaha. I did not stay long enough to see her walk the goat though. It might have been funny.

Hi pony! Why are you so cute! <3

This horse is FAT. Hahaha and BIG! Hi horse!

Look at that cute arse! The owner/farm shaved a heart on the pony <3

I saw a lesson being held. I am so jealous. I also wanna learn!

My dinner! I think it was the same bread as the one above. I added some cherry tomatoes for health purposes. Hehe.

This is a picture of the awesomest granola ever. It has white chocolate bits and a bit of coconut and granola and freeze-dried strawberries. It is so good with milk or yoghurt. <3

I decided to join the other girls to the Swedish Airforce Museum. I wanted to save some money, so I decided to walk there. Imagine my surprise when Fion said the rest of the girl will walk as well! I was happy.

My packed lunch for the trip. Bacon, cheese and egg with bread.

Rare sight of the afternoon sun!

Very very very very nice scenic view to accompany the long walk.

Here's another nice picture!

I love their signboards.

Imagine if I had to cycle up this hill T.T

The bright sun was bright.

Me with tiny eyes!

We decided to make snow angels halfway there. Everyone plopped into the snow and made their own angel. Now we are all blessed! :) Spot the four angels!

Place in front of the museum.

The other side.

I see the museum!

FINALLY! So we paid 50 sek for the student price and in we went! The following pictures shall be uncaptioned because they are all pictures of planes. I was quite uninterested in the first exhibition. :/ They are all weapons of destruction. :(

We could go into the helicopter! I definitely did :)

It is the same picture of the helicopter, but I do not know why one is much brighter than the other.

The helicopter I went into! Bigass helicopter.

One of the more interesting planes because it was made in the early 1900s. They swing the propeller to get it moving! Cool stuff!

There was a ramp for me to walk up and take pictures, so I did. A picture of the cockpit of some very old plane.

Another ramp, another cockpit.

Cool tool box! It must have been a hassle to lug this around.

Nice plane.

This plane is so cute, but it is an evil plane! It has holes that bullets come out from!!! >:(

From the top, the museum looks like this.

Another picture of the same thing.

Oh look! Pilots in uniforms! Apparently, the pilots just finished their exams and they were having a nice lunch in the middle of the museum.

Our lunch in comparison. Haha.

My bread looks like it shoots tomatoes.

Close up!

The cold war exhibition.

I was most interested in this exhibition. I have no idea what it was about, but they made replicas of homes in different eras. This is from 1950s I think.

The kitchen.

1980s

1980s

I forgot. Haha.

I forgot this one too.

Planes.

This is the cold war board. It was interesting, so I decided to snap a picture of it.

The wreckage of the plane BC-13 which was missing for over 40 years. :( This was the most interesting exhibit in my opinion. It really shows how detrimental war can be. Countries become wary of each other. This plane carried people who were on top secret mission. They got shot down and the plane sink into the deep sea. Can you imagine the grief and terror of the family members of the eight people inside? They were not given information about their missing relatives. :( I hate war.

My dinner that night.

Awesome ice-cream on offer! S$2 for a tub! <3 <3 <3 I have 4 tubs in my freezer now. :')

Souveinors from the museum. I bought postcards for the family and the paper is from some machine that tests your ability to multitask. Since I did not understand what they were talking about (in Swedish) I think 10 points is not too bad.

All wrapped up to walk to school with music for company! I see everyone do this, so I copy and paste on myself. Haha.

My lunch for school!

Bought 2 packets of salmon for 79 sek! I hope it is delish! ^^

4 bars of Daim for 10 sek. I do not usually crave chocolate, but hey! I can save it for a rainy day.

Leggings from New Yorker. I love that place. Haha. They are having a sale now, so I bought a few pairs of leggings and tights to try. I hope they keep me warm!

Bought my tom yum ingredients from the Siam shop, so I made it for dinner one day. AWESOME.

One more picture for tom yum! I have an egg inside. Nom nom nom!

I have the whole Saturday to spend by myself. So I decided to walk to the city centre. So I had granola with yoghurt for breakfast, packed my lunch and headed out!

OOTD yo! Hahaha. I think I probably look the same every day. I only have one coat.

I found a forest to walk into, so I did.

I saw people walk by this route/non-route. So I did.

Pretty tree.

The view and I.

I got a little lost, so I consulted the map. I found my way into another hostel! This is the flannan campus! I think I prefer my Ryd. Thanks! ^^

Closer view of the place.

Housing estates.

At this point of time, the wind was very very very strong and my hands became numb:( But, I saw this school and told myself I have to take a picture of my surroundings to remember it by. So I took my freezing hands out and snapped a picture.

90 degrees, snap.

90 degrees, snap!

YAY! I saw the church, which means that the city centre is nearby!

I saw the building we visited during the city tour and decided to walk into it. IT IS A LIBRARY! <3 I love libraries, but this one does not have the smell of books like those in Singapore.

Look! I spy historical romance novels! Hahaha. People here like reading those too! <3

Basement of the library. Cool looking, and a little creepy because I was there alone.

Archives? There is a shelf of Chinese Literature. I recognise the wordssss!

Artifact!

Uber cool design at the Children's section. There is a cozy corner for children!

A picture of this because this shelf had books in Thai and Vietnamese. I think many people from there migrate here. Cool.

DIY reserve shelf. This is quite cool because we get our reserved books from the counter in Singapore.

Other than coming into the library to thaw myself, I also wanted to pee. Hahaha. So I walked the entire library before finding the toilet. YAY! Finally. Any free toilet is highly appreciated.

I am interested in reading this book. Hmmm. I could barely find any English books in the library, but I had fun. I might come back when I am learning Swedish! I can read some children books. ^^

Nice building!

The cathedral. It is pretty as ever.

Nationhouse. I think it should be a pub of sorts.

Probably one of the cheaper places. :/

Half eaten lunch!

Going home late at night! Haha, just kidding. This was at 6 pm. Hahaha.

Very very full dinner! :) The pasta tastes better with cheese! I think I will eat it with cheese from now on.

My pretty germinating plants! Look at how ion is growing! Strong and tall. I wonder if I should get some fertilizers for them. :/

The week passed by really quickly. I have an inkling of what school life will be like. On the other hand, I think this week taught me something. I think I am a bit of an introvert after all. Rather than socialising every day or even every other day, I realise I enjoy spending time alone in my room eating my own food. Hmmm. I super love the granola I bought. There is a promotion now. Should I go stock up? Hmmmm.

Oh one thing I realise about staying in hostel? Everyone buys the same groceries. Haha. In other words, whatever is on discount. It is so very interesting! :)
